Breeder visits to CIMMYT and ICARDA

An important part of the CAIGE communication project is the breeder visits to CIMMYT and ICARDA. The visits provide an opportunity for Australian breeders to better understand the breeding programs and develop key relationships with the breeders and scientists at these institutes.

The visits are made to each organisation in alternate years for the life of the project. Three bread wheat breeders and 1 durum wheat breeder are supported by the Communications project to attend each visit. Other breeders and researchers are welcome to travel with the group using their own funds.
A report from each trip is provided to the CAIGE community and a presentation will be made at the annual CAIGE meeting (Feb/March of each year).
